April Round Up

Helen

Buying: I bought this rather fabulous planet necklace from Sugar & Vice. Unfortunately it wasn't for myself. I bought it as a birthday gift for my sister and it's safe to say she was delighted with it. I think I will definitely be borrowing it form her whenever I get the chance. Luckily I have my own piece of Sugar & Vice that will be popping up in an outfit post later this week.

Doing: It's been a rather fun filled month but I particularly enjoyed the eater weekend. Not only did I get 4 days off from work but the weather was rather fantastic. It's amazing how much a bit of sunshine and warmth can lift my mood. The Sunday was spent in the park having a family picnic with egg rolling, rounders and plenty of chocolate. I did some fried egg nail art for the occasion and decorated my eggs with tissue paper and glitter.

Watching: I just finished watching the second series of American Horror Story. I love anything horror so this show is pretty much perfect form me. I love the stylised look and the fact that the story and characters change from season to season, which certainly keeps it interesting. For me, Sister Jude's rendition of The Name Game was a particular highlight of this series.

Reading: Speaking of horror, I recently downloaded A Taste of Tomorrow which is a collection of Dystopian stories from a number of different authors, including Hugh Howey, David Wright and Chris Ward. It seems to feature snippets from books and parts of series so it's already got me downloading more from the individual authors. A great introduction to the genre and it will definitely keep me in reading material for some time to come.

Doing: This month has been a busy one, and as our posts have shown we have spent a lot of time in the Grassmarket area. Following Helen's visit, I returned with some friends for the Old Town Street Food Festival on Easter Sunday. It was held in the courtyard at The Three Sisters and had quite a few pop-up vendors grilling different delights. I had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. The food was pretty good but I haven't been to The Three Sisters since I was a student and it really hasn't changed...

Watching: At the start of the month I spent a lot of time with my family, including my nearly- two year old niece. I watched some truly terrible Nick Jr programmes on repeat, but I also caught some Disney films, including Tangled. It was pretty good. Humour in kids films has really moved on. I'm not really interested in watching new Disney films but if I catch one I always end up watching it until the end. It's some kind of hypnotism, I'm sure!

Buying: Brooches brooches everywhere. I guess it's because the season is changing and I'm swapping jackets a lot. I showed off one in my outfit post here, but I have yet to wear this adorable acrylic bicycle from Rockcakes.

Reading: Oh Comely magazine. Helen has been reading this magazine for a while so I've flicked through it at her's but not read it fully. Normally I buy magazines when I want to shop but can't afford to, to get my fashion fix and I thought this would be a nice change from my Company and Glamour subscriptions. It's so dreamy.

    1. Thanks Claire. I bought it without much thought as to what it will go on... That means I should buy something new for it, right? Haha
