A couple of weeks ago we went along to Hard Rock Cafe for their #Pinktober campaign for breast cancer awareness. We have been to a number of blogger events recently (you may have noticed?!) but this one was one of the most intimate and relaxed. A select group of bloggers and PR gals were welcomed with pink cocktails and ALL the pink foods. Including pink nachos- who knew? Also, one of the cocktails was chocolate flavour. We were in girly girl heaven. The whole group was friendly and chatty and we had a lovely time.

Claire from Benefit was on hand to pamper with her makeup kit. We aren't beauty bloggers by any means but I actually really enjoyed the smokey eye demonstration- exactly the look I've been looking to branch into. Claire is so enthusiastic and fun to watch- and she's an absolute eyebrow guru.
She sorted both of us out with proper brows- a must for days when my hair is pink rather than blonde. I've never had my eyebrows shaped professionally, mostly out of a long-ingrained fear of cheap beauticians some friends would go to when we were teenagers. I have a decent natural brow shape . As I'm (dark) blonde, my eye brows can look patchy. Also I've been trying to grow the old 00's pencil thin brows back in for about 5 years. It ain't happening.
This was all done with Benefit Brow Zings so it was only temporary, but Claire did an amazing job. I'm a convert!

The demonstrations were quite interactive and it was nice to get the other girls' opinions of the products. I found myself saying "Ooh I use that one, I really like that one" I was quite surprised by how much Benefit makeup I own. As I said, I'm not beauty blogger- and actually I don't wear make up on a daily basis- but when I do wear it, I like it a light natural finish. I have the classic High Beam and I've used Dandelion in the past. One problem I do have is dark circles around my eyes and both Benefit Boi-ing and Erase Paste are always in my makeup bag. They are both heavy duty concealers (probably ideal for spots) but they are also light reflecting and do not cake. The only issue is that in deep winter my skin can be slightly too pale for even the lightest shade. I really want to try the Lemon Aid too for my dark eyelids. Anyone got any tips?!

We each received a Pinktober goodie bag with special #Pinktober badges and a load of Benefit bits to try at home. We also entered into the charity raffle but no luck!

Thanks so much to the lovely Lesley from Hard Rock Cafe for putting on a fun girly event where we laughed all evening. Lesley has a surprising love for our wee home town of Arbroath- and as promised here is a photo of our #Pinktober bags enjoying a day out at 'the Pondie'.
Just for you Lesley!
