Not gonna lie- I had a whole mist of lurgy surrounding me come Day One of Edinburgh Fashion Week- but I wasn't going to let some sweaty snotty virus stop me from enjoying my VIP ticket. Helen and I headed in super early for the blogger breakfast and we lasted until about 4pm when my whining got the better of her, and we retired to Mademoiselle Macaron to lounge on her chaise longues and be fed sugar and gossip by the Mademoiselle herself. More details to come.!
Right now let's ignore my pasty complexion and focus on the important stuff; the clothes. Before the day arrived there was a Twitter chorus of "what should I wear?" but I'd already put in my borrow request to Helen weeks' prior ("remember to pack the flamingoes!") I had no idea what I was going to wear with it at the time but I knew that I needed a dress shape that would flatter and make me feel comfortable. These dresses do it for me every time so it was as no brainer. It's not every day you're on the Frow for the capital's opening shows. It was perfect (if we forget that tiny wardrobe malfunction I had where I was wandering Princes Street with the zip down and dress flapping open for all to see. Side splits are the new crop top, don'tcha know?)
I kept my lower half simple in my comfy boots- there was a lot of standing around socialising between shows and hanging around backstage getting ready (it ain't all glamour). I brought out my new Bailey and Quinn work bag that featured in our February round up, but kept it cute by adding my wee pink pompom. He's now been named Colin, by the way.
A few weeks ago I had a wander around the tiny Armstrongs on Teviot Place and found some really great vintage faux furs. As the materials weren't that brilliant back in the day, they can look very shiny and cheap but the one I found was soft and lovely. Unfortunately the size was wrong for me and the pile was a bit damaged so I left without it- and when this version online with the same label inside I snapped it up! It's actually a bit too warm even for March in Edinburgh but I didn't want to go without it so I just draped it over my shoulders. It went well with Helen's tartan cape. Twinsies!
We had a great day at the mound exhibitions hanging out with some of our favourite girls- read all about it on Friday! And while the Mound shows are over there are still some events going on in town- check out This Is Edinburgh for the events. We'll see you around!
