When I think of space style, I think of the past rather than the future. I think of the 60's space race and the 'imagined' outfits of the future. It reminds me of Tomorrow's World, and all the sci-fi novels I read as a child. Spaceship uniforms, futuristic fabrics and wearable tech; fashion wise it could go in any direction. It's so open to creativity! There was a notion then that as we humans evolve we would become more utilitarian in our dress sense, but as far as 2015 goes, we're anything but. Individuality is top of our priorities!
I've gone for a sort of android pin up look for our Styled By challenge. A fabulous sixties trolley dolly for all those long haul flights to Mars. I kept the accessories simple with this sequined shift dress and styled it up with retro hair and make up. And gems. Gotta have some gems on your eyes in the future. Space to me is basically like now but in glitter / holographic / silver. I was one step away from adding a tinfoil hat.
I don't have 60s go-go boots to top off my ensemble so I substituted for my favourite glitter jelly shoes. I also really needed them to attempt in some way to relax this look. It got me waay too much attention for a mid-morning city centre shoot. As well as numerous wolf whistles (really? In 2015?), photos were taken of me as I waited at traffic lights and a super creepy man followed me on a bicycle shouting for "Marlyn Monroe". Yes, I thought I was going to end up in a basement somewhere, but in hindsight it was kind of flattering.
Now that I've received this level of stalker attaining ability, I'm wondering why I've never had the guts to wear this dress before. In typical Kim style, it's been hanging in my wardrobe for seven months (tags still on, obvs, I am forever telling myself I'm "going to return" items and never do). I've tried it on on a couple of occasions, before backing out for something less flashy (literally). But it turns out any day can be a sparkly one when you dress like a mirror ball. Why save for best when you can be

Thanks to my babe Miss Vicky Viola for taking these photographs.
