Tea Green Summer
Last year saw the first Tea Green Pop Up event in Glasgow. Then there was a series of Tea Green markets in the run up to Christmas. Now they're back, even bigger and better for 2015. Brain child of jeweller extraordinaire, Jo MacFadyen, Tea Green is all about sharing and promoting the work of Scotland's fabulous makers. We are all about supporting independent designers so of course we're totally on board.
The first event of their summer programme was to set up shop with 23 designers at The Lighthouse Late in Glasgow. This event saw the design and architecture venue come alive with music, fashion design, workshops and social connections. We were invited along to pitch up our sparkly photobooth. After taking our tinsel along to a couple of Tea Green events last year we were more than happy to attend. We had a lot of fun snapping the stylish visitors but we made sure to take a little time to peek at the Tea Green stall holders. There was so much good stuff on display! Here's our top five from the fair......
1. UrbanRebel Design
Beautiful homeware made from classic Harris tweed and other fabulous fabrics. The one pictured above is made from a Japanese kimono and is absolutely stunning. Specialising in lampshades, soft furnishings and textile art made with skill, we would love to have some UrbanRebel Design in our homes.
2. Alana Peden
We love a bit of ceramic jewellery. When it's combined with neon colours, all the better! Alana had a wide array of textured pieces on display. From statement necklaces to more delicate earrings there was definitely something for everyone. Of course we say that bigger and brighter = better so we love the above necklace.
3. Robyn McLean
The mini dinosaurs and unicorns caught our attention on Robyn's stall. Small delicate charms that are full of fun. We also enjoyed the more serious jewels on display. Taking inspiration from ink blots and incorporating bones, we do enjoy a bit of the darker side now and then.
4. Rosa Howie
These tropical fish prints gave us some serious summer vibes. The colours are on point and every mermaid needs a notebook, right?! As well as these pretties Rosa also had some awesome tshirts, prints and earrings for sale. Helen may or may not have added two pairs of ear candy to her collection (spoiler: she totally did).
5. Claire Barclay
Puns, Scottish slang and bright colours, we are so on board with Claire's designs. We may be from the east coast but we want to be Glasgow Girls! Or perhaps we can convince her create some Edinburgh / Dundee ones. If not we can always opt for Peely Wally and Pure Bleather. We all know who's who.
So many pretty things to add to our wishlists! Tea Green will be back in Glasgow this weekend with EVEN MORE sellers, all set in a rather spectacular venue.
The Lighthouse Late was such a fun event. Unfortunately we were a tad too busy to see everything on offer but, as you can see, what we did manage to catch was pretty impressive. You can check out all our photobooth snaps from the night on our Facebook page but here's a little look at our tinsel background sparkling behind our outfits for the night.
