Talk about glasses with anyone at the moment and there's only one word on their lips: IOLLA. We are always suspicious of anything with a lot of hype but after checking out their website we were hooked. We were a little disappointed that we couldn't make it along to the launch night of the much- instagrammed show room of the brand new Glasgow eyewear brand. And we had to admit, everyone who has them looks pretty terrific, so we thought we'd take them up on an offer to visit for ourselves. After all, no one knows glasses like we do!

The concept of the brand is very clever: keep it simple. The showroom is exactly that- a beautiful showroom for beautiful frames; no opticians, no hard sell or jargon about your weird prescription to make you shell out for extras. The frames themselves are designed in house; they're on trend, they're a shortlist of frames (but still manage to be plenty when trying on!) and there's a decent choice of colour in each.
The thing we can't quite get our head around though, is the price. They don't feel cheap.
However, they are a set price of £65- frame, lens, anti-scratch and anti-glare. Even as sunglasses if you like. Say what?! And if you're pretty blind (like Kimberley) you normally pay a fortune for thinning, right?
Nope!
Up to a prescription of -/+7 they'll do the necessary so you don't look like you're wearing milk bottles at no extra cost. As they point out, they want their customers to look great in the frames. There are certain cases where there's an additional fee (multi focus or super thin) but honestly, they're still pretty affordable even then.

So, we were let loose to choose our frames. Glasses shopping, whether specs or sunnies, is one of our favourite kinds of shopping. We must admit, we spent ages trying almost every pair there. Customers came and went and still we were playing. We even stopped for a chocolate milkshake break from the cute wee honesty bar set up in the Try On area. The truth is, we felt too at home and the decision was too hard! But we were given all the time we needed to make our choice.

We each picked our favourites and used the nifty tablets to place our orders. along with some help. It was good to be in control of the process and it was fast and easy to do. Helen chose Bell in clear crystal and Kimberley went for the popular Muir in classic tortoiseshell. They were delivered to our home addresses within two weeks and we've been enjoying them ever since. You can see us wearing them over on our instagram page (where there's also some spooky happenings!)

We may also be putting in a further order as we speak (we totally are). There's just too much to choose from!
