On a very, very windy day we headed up to a dinosaur themed party in Arbroath. It was a party for an adult- namely Heather, who you may remember from her excellent Space outfit guest post. She picks the best themes and has the best parties. They are always so chilled and fun and she is brilliant at bringing together random people to socialise. This one was no exception, with a pub quiz featuring rounds on Harry Potter, Marvel and dinosaurs (obvs) along with a 'pin the plate on the stegasaurus' party game that is way more hilarious after dino punch. In case you don't hate her already (we all do) she also asked for donations for a food bank in lieu of birthday gifts. She's just a terrible person.

Obviously I had to bring my pet stegasaurus, Steve, along as my guest. He is one of my favourite novelty bags, although as I've mentioned before he would be better labeled as a novelty phone case, since a mobile and cards is pretty much all that fits in his little zip compartment. The most inconvenient phone case in history? He's lucky he's so damn pretty. I was a tad concerned about him getting jealous of the other dinosaurs present, especially as I grew quite a bond with the inflatable T-rex. And I can only now appreciate the amount of joy chasing that diplodocus balloon around in the wind gave me.

This play suit has an interesting story. It belongs to one of my sisters (I have three) and I had borrowed it way back in October for an impromptu night out. Wearing it was a turning point for me- with what was happening in my personal life it was the first time I'd felt good about myself in a while. That's what sisters do for you. I liked the fit so much that I decided to buy one for myself.. but in a size bigger for a bit of extra comfort (aka space for dinner). Tipping it over from a 14 to a 16 meant I had to purchase it from the plus size section, Boohoo Plus. I don't know if anyone else has this issue but at that time (and size) I felt like I was constantly hovering between the 'regular' section and the 'plus size' one. I didn't really mind, as I would rather have something that fit me well than pick the smaller dress size. Especially given how random high street sizing can be. Being comfortable and confident in an outfit is much more important than a number.

Anyway, what did irritate me was what arrived. Although it looked similar, it was a totally different shape and even a different, cheaper feeling material. I understood that the cut may be different as body shapes will be quite different in larger sizes but the different material irked me. It is partly the waffle-like texture of the fabric that makes the play suit fit well (read: hides lumps and bumps) and the other fabric was thin, shapeless and hung badly.
My sister was pretty annoyed when I didn't bring it home with me at Christmas so that we could be twins on Christmas Day but don't worry- she has a striped version too so we still got our matching outfits on! Anyway, she is currently very pregnant so I have acquired the play suit for the next month or two until Baby Nephew arrives and she can fit into it again. Siblings are the best!
